Black and white photographic print showing a woman wearing a printed skirtcloth, or lappa, standing near a house. She is wearing a necklace made out of leopards teeth, and large arm cuffs on each wrist. The Brighton Museum has a copy of the same photograph, and written in pencil on the back of the image is Fig. 39, p.126 / Serenading - a Sophist - Upper Mendi / No. 17 / Upper Mendi Princess wearing leopards teeth necklace. Sign of being free-born / Alldridge Neg List No 17. This is an albumen print. Published as Figure 39 in T. J. Alldridge, 1901, The Sherbro and Its Hinterland (London: Macmillan).
