Gongoli Mask
A large gongoli, or kongoli, mask depicting the face of a human or animal. This example is unusual as is has a large mouth, baring a sharp set of top and bottom teeth, and curved eye flanges on either side of the nose. There is a pointed stump on the chin. The gongoli masquerader comes out to provide light entertainment, particularly during more solemn occasions such as funerals. It is not particular to any cultural group in Sierra Leone.
