When dyed, the dye does not penetrate the parts when it has been folded or tucked, leaving a geometric pattern. The pattern on this example has, however, been create using batik, or wax. A stamp covered in wax was used to pattern the fabric; when is was dyed with indigo, the waxed pattern was left white. This example is decorated with human figures.
