Kama-Masa Bust

This wooden female bust was described as a Temne Kama-Masa figure, previously owned by Madame Yawa, the head of the Bundu society in Maboya Town, Yonni. It is said to have been used by the society in ritual ceremony ; potentially during the initiation of girl into the society. The Sierra Leone National Museum catalogue notes to part with the KAMA-MASA figure, Mr. A.B. Seisay offered Madam Yama a gift, (a bottle of beer) to pour libation on behalf of the Gods .
