Ndoli Jowei Raffia Tunic
A tunic made out of dyed strips of country cloth and covered in three layers of black dyed raffia. It is accessioned as part of the costume worn by the dancing sowei, known as the ndoli jowei among the Mende or a-Nowo among the Temne. The tunic was accessioned along with the mask [BM:Af.1901.722.10.a] and leggings [BM:Af.1901.722.10.c and d - now lost] that made up the masquerade costume.
