aRong aThoma Mask
A carved wooden A-Rong a-Thoma [araung etoma or Athoma have also been used] mask from the Temne raGbenle society. It has long downward pointing horns and large rounded triangular nostrils. The mouth is at the base of the mask, and the whole face is painted blue. It is worn flat on the head, along with a raffia fringe that is attached to the mask, and often comes out in pairs. The costume also includes a cape and raffia leggings.
