Black and white photographic print of Mammy, or Madame, Yoko; the paramount chief of Moyamba. Mammy Yoko worked closely with the colonial authorities of Freetown and is described here as a queen. She is sitting in the centre, shown with members of the Sierra Leone Frontier Police. This photo is part of a collection from an album put together by William Vivian in 1889; Vivian was a Missionary with the United Methodist Free Churches, and is likely to have taken the photographs himself. This is an albumen print.
