Mori Whip
A Mori leatherwork whip. This example is plaited with a double end of 14 lashes. The handle is bound with very finely plaited leather, except the centre, where it is plain. It has a leather plaited button on the loop at the junction of the whip and the handle. The handle ends in 13 leather strings, each ending in a leather button. Mori or Mandingo leatherwork is traditionally associated with Muslim elites and comes from the Northern Province of Sierra Leone.
