Male Carved Figure
A wooden carving depicting a male figure. The figure has a ridged hair style and an elongated segmented neck with 8 creases. It is fixed to a block of wood by metal straps over its feet. The figure wears a bead apron round its waist, decorated with black, orange, and green, string ties. Alldridge does not mention male figures in The Sherbro and its Hinterland. However, this figure may be part of a pair of male and female figures used by the Mende Njayei/Yassi society.
