Mende song (in Arabic)
Ethnomusicological sound recording made by Cootje van Oven. Mende Muslim religious song accompanied by two gita. The gita can be seen in the photograph (but not these ones). The gita is a rectangular frame drum. Measurements of the bigger one are 18.5" by 14", of the smaller one 16.5" by 13". The bigger one is played with one stick, the smaller one with two. The singers are Mende but the song is sung in Arabic.
