Kontho
A kontho , or slit gong. It is carved from a single piece of wood that has been hollowed out through vertical slits in the middle section. The instrument has a stylised head at one end. Kontho is the Limba name for this instrument though the Kuranko also have one that is similar. The Kontho resembles the Mende Kele, or Kili, or the Limba N kali, which also consists of a hollowed log.
