Bolon Bata
A bolon , or bolon bata , is commonly known as a Fula instrument; it resembles a harp lute. This example typically consists of a calabash resonator, a curved wooden neck with three strings, and a rattle secured to the end. The calabash is half covered in animal hide, likely to be goat hide, and attached to a red cotton carrying strap. The rattle is made out of a copper sheet, with holes pierced around the edges, securing a number of small rings and bells.
