Stoneware Jug
A large jug, made from stoneware, a type of clay. It is decorated with a band of typical Mandingo leatherwork. Mandingo , used here, refers to a style of decoration associated with Muslim elites. The jug was collected by C.D. Hotobah During, a well-known Krio Barrister who spent many years based in Freetown.
