Preprema Mask
Decribed in the Sierra Leone National Museum records as a Preprema Mask of the Koranko. It was made by a Pa Kewulay, head of the male circumcision cult, at Ferawa Town in Koinadugu District in c. 1958. The Museum's catalogue records the following further information relating to the circumcision cult : The mask is worn by the leader of the young initiates. He is always the singer of the cult and his leadership is respected by all the members of the circumcision cult. Young boys at the age of 10-15 yrs are made to become responsible men in their community in an enclosure - Fafa . At the end of the bush school , the boys are fit to take part in every activities of the elders of the town.
