Bottle
One of a number of bottles found during excavations on a piece of land at the corner of Westmorland Street (now Siaka Stevens Street) and Wilberforce Street in 1964. Two coins dated to 1913 and 1866 were found in the same context. The bottle is of a Hamilton type, which have a torpedo shape and designed to be stored on their sides to keep the cork wet and the seal airtight (it is incorrectly photographed standing upsidedown on its neck). It would have contained soda. They were in use throughout the 19th century.
