Mammy Dura Figure
This unusual carving is described by he Sierra Leone National Museum records as a Sherbro carving of Mammy Dura , the description continues: The mirror eyes can look into the past, the present and into the future...She appears fleetingly to people who sail past in boats. She is harmless . The figure has mirror eyes, and cowrie shells attached in a cross-shap on the forehead, as well as on the cheeks, breasts, and in the navel.
