Twin Figure

A Loko male twin figure, collected from Mange, a Loko Village 5 miles from Makeni. It was said to have previously belonged to Ngaima Fofanah of that village, and to have been carved by a Kono man. The Loko word for a twin is Tuna (pl. Twai). Twin figures, such as this one, were often carved at the death of a twin. This example is wearing a string of white and black beads, though these do not appear in the priginal photograph, and may have been added later.
