Ashanti Figure

This is an Ashanti fertility figure, or ÒAkuaÕbaÓ from Ghana. Such figures were carried to improve the chances of conceiving, and the ensure that the child born would be healthy and beautiful. It has a typical round, flat disc head, columnar body with outstretched arms. The donor acquired it in Ghana.
