Commemorative Cup

This green plastic cup was presented to school children as a celebration held as the National Stadium in Freetown, marking the 10th anniversary of independence in 1971. The donor of this cup paraded with the Sierra Leone Grammar School, which he was then attending. The schools paraded behind the Wilson Band, led by Pa Wilson who wore a Scottish kilt and carried a staff. The event was presided over by the Mayor of Freetown, Mr Samuel D. T. Alison Betts. The yellow text on the cup reads Sierra Leone Independence 10th Anniversary 1961-1971 .
