Wooden Staff
This is a carved wooden staff, held by high status individuals. This example has a head carved at one end, with a long, segmented neck. It was originally recorded as being from the Kasai region in the Congo, however the head more resembles Sierra Leonean work. This was originally part of the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum collection. It was acquired by the British Museum in 1954.
