Lala
Always played in pairs, the lala is a hook-shaped instrument with discs strung on to one arm of the hook to make up a rattle. The arm bearing the discs may be slightly curved. The discs are usually cut out of a large calabash. These are usually played by Fula musicians. The Sierra Leone National Museum catalogue notes that this examles was used by the Yama yama devil. The lala is also known as a shake-shake, or a shaker.
