Gongoli Mask
This is described by the Sierra Leone National Museum as a Gongoli Mask . Gongoli, or kongoli, masks commonly depict the face of a human or animal. The masquerader comes out to provide light entertainment, particularly during more solemn occasions such as funerals. This example is very unusual in form with respect to other examples of Gongoli masks, and may have been carved for sale, rather than use.
