Laterite Figure

This is a laterite sculpture now broken, which once depicted a bound slave. It was commissioned by the Museum in 1992 for an exhibition on the transatlantic slave trade. It was carved by Joseph Adedoin, who is described in the Museum catalogue as a contemporary public art sculptor .
